Narcissism is never warranted. No matter how talented someone might be.

I had a roommate who was a narcisist. One redeeming qaulity was he new it. Didn't help his bhaviour at all but at least he acknowleged it. It was impossible to talk about anything for more that 10 seconds without him turning the conversation on to himself.
