A dedication to you, /lit/

No, you drop out of college and act like a beatnik to get laid and starve as your shit gets published and doesn't sell and then never gets published.

Or you become and academic or something, I dunno.

Bot aren't that bad, I'm majoring in economics.

Everyone's seen it already. We've had hundreds of topics on this very issue throughout the years. But hell, let's have another one. /lit/ kinda hates English majors, even though it's full of the people most likely to become good English students, which gives one an idea of the sorry state humanities departments throughout the world are in.

>Competition should continue to be strong because more students are graduating from law school each year than there are jobs available. As in the past, some recent law school graduates who have been unable to find permanent positions are turning to the growing number of temporary staffing firms that place attorneys in short-term jobs. This service allows companies to hire lawyers “as-needed” and permits beginning lawyers to develop practical skills.

>However, growth in demand for lawyers will be constrained as businesses increasingly use large accounting firms and paralegals to do some of the same tasks that lawyers do. For example, accounting firms may provide employee-benefit counseling, process documents, or handle various other services that law firms previously handled.

second, everything is "oversaturated," son. go to /sci/ and talk about cs or engineering and they'll tell you that job prospects are low. read any article circa 1980s about humanity PhDs and it'll tell you the field has too many people. try culinary school and you'll find out that you'll be washing dishes for 2 years. stop fucking using the argument that "wah wah too many people." i fucking set my mind to something and i do it, while you sit and wallow instead of annihilating competition. life isn't cushy, asshole. aim high, then make or break. otherwise, enjoy your docile mediocrity.

What majors have the most likeable people in them? Part of me wants to go into math/science, but in my experience the kinds of people who do tend to be annoying aspies, and I'd rather not deal with that if possible. On the other hand, I worry that the humanities are full of pretentious hipsters and people who aspire to be "writers" although they mostly read garbage and have no interesting ideas. Well, I can see myself pretty easily in a lot of different subjects, and I think I'm smart enough to do well in any of them. The people I'd be working with aren't the MAIN reason for choosing a major, they're more of a tie breaker.
Of course, I haven't actually taken any of the classes yet, so I might totally change my mind when I'm actually there. I'm not going to make my decision based on this thread; I'm just curious as to what you guys think.
