Those are all introductory literature. Most of the stuff we like around here is mid-to-high-tier lit. Not to say the books you listed are bad, they're just nothing special around here.

You will get inaccurate results. No self-respecting /lit/izen would post in a thread like this.

my entire post sounds plebeian, looking at it now, haha.

You're right. The results will be inaccurate. Only non-pretentious /lit/izens' results will be shown in this thread.

I just wanted to see what the denizens of /lit/ listen to.

/v/, /vp/ and /b/ are shitholes for music.

/mlp/ is surprisingly patrician.

I only listen to avant-garde and experimentalism made between 1940 and 1978.

>> No.2596560

Mainly ambient, atmospheric music with an impressionist feel to it. Love lots of different sounds and I especially like arists with an eclectic musical style and freedom that promotes improvisation as well as collaboration/jammin. As a result, I often stray into avante-garde territory with my tastes but nontheless I still enjoy more conventional music from a wide range of artists. Love psychadelic rock (the sound) but not the drug culture that goes with it. Shoegaze; post-rock, metal, lo-fi, folk, funk, bluegrass, country, soul, northern soul, jazz, punk, post-punk, noise rock, classic rock, and most areas of alternative rock. Not a big fan of extensive screaming in music but it can work if done right. Like good use of sound dynamics and effects to produce sharp contrasts in sound texture and maintain melodic, yet dynamic music. Yeah, as I said before, I like my art to be an eclectic blend, sort of like mixing different fruits together to make a sweet sonic smoothie.

Could of listed a few names but it would do no justice the hundreds of musicians/composers/virtuosos whose music and lives have inspired my own. The main thing I think any artist should possess is an open mind and quite frankly the whole world of mainstream music and celebrity culture just taints creativity by shovling generic of the assembly line shit into the mindless masses of children and teenagers whose virgin ears have yet to be acquainted with the beauty of Bach or the sensuous touch of Vivaldi, Wagner, Debussy, Chopin, Tchaikovsky or even the comic and psychadelic genius of Zappa and Beefheart. Too much commercial music nowadays promotes the exclusivity of the art into a generic pop format that limits open-mindedness and tolerance of different musical styles that may contrast with there own.

Holly shit, this list. It's so nice.

Anyway, as for me:
Industrial
Industrial-EBM
Post punk
Dark Americana
Doom metal
Black metal
Singer-songwriters (Cave, Cohen, Waits, Callahan, Hawkins, Zevon, etc...)
Dark Cabaret
Neofolk

That covers most of what I have, though I have some hip-hop and pop stuff, too. But it's really good stuff like Janelle Monae and Dalek.

I listen to everything but industrial and that strange gothic dance music that has people dancing in leather bondage outfits. Pic related. I can't tell if I dislike the music because of the music or because it generates fandom such as this.
