I am looking for a term to describe the mistaken belief that - if positive is false, then negative must be true.

For example, let's say I am trying to gauge my interest in something. The positive operator in this situation would be enjoyment.

I establish that I do not receive enjoyment from something. Instead of accepting this as the result, I make the extensional conclusion that; because it does not fulfill a positive outcome, the outcome must, instead, be negative. Therefore, I conclude that I dislike it.

Is there a word that fits this definition, /lit/? I'm guessing it might be on that silly list of "logical fallacies," but I haven't seen it.

Imagine a book with an infinite number of pages. On the first page lie the words, "The words on the last page of this book are true."

Every following page reports the same phrase, "The statement on the page before this page is false."

that's not a belief, that's just a misunderstanding of basic logic. sounds like it'd have something to do with the null hypothesis.

This is wrong. It would be a reductio ad absurdum if there was a contradiction in what he was trying to prove if it was true, and therefore it would be false.

False Dichotomy is close, but it mainly regards simplification.

I am thinking more along the lines of an appeal to incorrect premises.
