>stumble upon the season premiere of Girls

>all of my rage

Has /lit/ ever seen any other lit in plain-view on TV?

Looks like the Art of the Novella series besides the Tao Lin. I approve.

>> No.2578362

'Mad Men' makes some pretty awkward literary references occasionally. That film 'Warrior' kind of shoehorned in some Moby-Dick excepts and had pictures of Nietzsche on the wall for no reason. 'The Guard' had some pretty telegraphed literary references.

>> No.2578363

Why is this surprising to you? Dunham is part of the NY mumblecore/whatever tao lin is considered scene.

fuck that show for having a cast composed almost entirely of the children of famous / wealthy people

Archer is really the only show I've seen pull off some serious literary references. Like, Bartleby-The-Scrivner-type references. And it's a cartoon.

>>2578363
I had no idea.

>>2578368
I thought there were other shows, but this literally and definitively is "Single White Female: The Show."

Archer does it without any pretense. It's delightful.

I was thinking more like
Hipster Problems: The Show.

Read reviews for it and

All I can think is I gotta get in this selling-my-opinion-to-studios-and-pretend-I'm-some-kind-of-authority racket, seems like it would be pretty good money for little-to-no work. I wonder how much HBO pays for a positive review in a medium-distribution mag.

If I had to watch a female-oriented series, I think I'd just prefer to watch pic related.

watched the first episode of this show. not into it. same ol' same ol' privileged people writing about their privileged problems. whoever writes this show must be incredibly fucking tone deaf to the times right now.

there's a reason for that. the more that the realm of art is only affordable practical to those who have the means (kinda hard to pay rent and do a full time, unpaid internship without someone paying your way) the more that art is going to only reflect the narrow viewpoint of that few.
