trying too hard creates shittier results
See A song of Ice and Fire for example (first 3 books done once every 2 years, last 2 books done in 11 years)

Little research and thought in your case probably resulted in a tighter argument than what you have displayed in your prior essays. Sometimes having less information to analyse and condense results in less confusion in sifting through relevant ideas, examples and citations. However then you risk not having provided enough depth.

In the process of writing an essay writers generally fall within two categories. Those that write with quantity over quality, and those that write for quality over quantity. This is why essays require consistent editing, so you may in the case of being a quantity writer condense and tighten your argument getting rid of superfluous and irrelevant arguments. If you are a quality writer you need to do the opposite of this, and pad out your paper in such a way that it does not deviate from the thesis.
