>Let her know what you really think of Murakami

What is she implying? Is he some kind of joke in /lit/ circles? Do only hipsters read Murakami

That really depends on how muscular she is

the only thing that's healthy about her is that looking at her might steer others from the same fate

>Understand that if she says she understood James Joyce’s Ulysses she’s just saying that to sound intelligent.

At least these types of hipsters admit their limited intelligence.

Who would want a muscular woman?

OP here, can someone answer my question regarding Murakami?

It's popular fiction, so, no.

Fuck you're thick.

To which question?

>who has had a library card since she was twelve
Only twelve?

>She will introduce your children to the Cat in the Hat and Aslan, maybe in the same day.
>Aslan
If I wanted that, I'd make them read the Bible.

Some of Murakami's work is really good. Too bad your pic is one of his worst. /lit/ hates anything that gains popular notoriety in any way. i could care less, personally.

/lit/ loves the classics and they're very popular, popularity has nothing to do with anything here, /lit/ would hate twilight even if it was some obscure book.

The problem with being a tripfag is gaining a reputation for being a retarded cunt when you keep saying retarded shit over and over. Welcome to /lit/ you mongoloid.

>> No.2568811

if you think popularity actually has anything to do with what /lit/ (or anyone for that matter) likes then you're massively deluded

>> No.2568817

>>2568811
well actually, I should qualify this by saying that popularity has a lot to do with what people who only like popular things like,

>> No.2568975

I think that Murakami is a great novelist, but it seems that people claim to know Japanese literature and culture by just reading his works--see http://www.nytimes.com/2011/10/23/magazine/the-fierce-imagination-of-haruki-murakami.html?_r=1

While I believe that he is a good starting point for an introduction to Japanese literature, he is only one perspective. I think if people do give him a chance, he is worth their time.
