You shouldn't read it, period. I'm not even getting into the political aspects, it's just an incredibly poorly written work full of meandering anecdotes and half-hearted polemics from the guy you've normally seen putting his whole heart (and throat) into his polemics.
You want some interesting stuff, check out Goebbel's diaries or anything on Himmler. Hitler was a dick.

what are some easy, introductory german books?
i picked up thomas mann and whoa nelly
i was thinking about trying to stomach some shitty banal kafka or hesse because they both write like effeminate hemingways
ive been reading brecht and its not tooo tough
i dunno maybe suggest an author that isnt completely awful and doesnt use purple prose, eg musil maybe

Every translation sucks equally pretty much, get one of those modern extended aniversary translation that talk about how they are much better than previous translations because they also include material that was omited.

Well actually one of my teachers bought it for me...I kinda just wanted to read what Hitler thought of himself that's all the book talks about personally I don't care if he is lying his ass off or just ranting I think it's a cool book.
