Any philosopher that focuses on laziness? Its definition and ways to go about solving it? Ive read a few things from other philosophers and agree with their ideals but am TOO fucking lazy to put them into action, so please reccomend me something.

To a young man who complained that he was ill suited to study philosophy, Diogenes said, "Why then do you live, if you do not care to live well?"

You don't care enough to do something about it. You care even less about living well than someone who donates a buck a year to Greenpeace cares about the environment. If your views don't show through in your actions they don't mean shit. You are too indifferent to live virtuously. You just like the idea of being someone who can say he does so. Step your game up.

Which are the thinkers you said to agree with in your first post?

>> No.2500653

sounds like you need a psychologist rather than a philosopher. i mean most philosophers historically have probably been autodidacts, which is sort of a shit group to learn motivation from since the feel of bogged in stagnation isn't exactly their forte.

Nietzsche was the ultimate taking care of business motherfucker. He can shame you into it.

Nietzsche, Sartre,Diogenes and Camus. Basically entry-level /lit/ ,nevertheless they are the ones who interest me most.

Not OP bit this has caught my interest, is there any specific text someone can recommend? I need a little motivation once in a while.

Well Diogenes is an easy one. Throw out everything you own that you can't carry with you on your back across town. Cold showers, decent exercise. Simple foods and pleasures. Disregard social mores, live simply and honestly.

What ideals where you interested in implementing? It all still sounds rather vague to me. Your lack of motivation might very well stem from a lack of direction. As your friend Friedrich said:

“The formula for my happiness: a Yes, a No, a straight line, a goal.”

Read Oblomov, you guys. It's about a lazy fucker who can't get shit done and fucks things up because of his lazy ways.

You say you want to implement certain ideals in your life. Then you say you don't know what you want to do. Which is it?

Also, which ideals?

Also, reported.

Lol.
Anyway, the ideals of existentialism in which you make yourself as you wish to be ( at least this is how I understood it) it sounds great but I lack motivation.

Well, then don't do it. Having a nice house and a shitload of money sounds great to me too, but I know I don't find it worth the effort that is usually needed to attain such things so I don't.

I dont have that in mind at all. I could care less for those things. Im not sure whether I want to go to art school or programming. My real problem is pursuing my interests strictly because of my lack of motivation and because its always easier to just sit and browse the web all day. I know I'm just whining right now but it is annoying to acknowledge the problem but being too lazy to take action, hence why I asked if there was a philosopher who deals with this subject.

like I said earlier, your problem lies in the realm of psychology not philosophy. i don't know if any of it's worthwhile, but there's a whole sub-set of self help literature dedicated to your issue. personally i think self-help books are a terrible way to get motivated as they're way too static, so if setting up plans yourself isn't enough you need to 1) ask your friends/family to help you, 2) seek professional help, or 3) some serious life event (like losing your house) needs to kick your arse and shake you out of your rut. i mean you wouldn't read Rousseau if you wanted to learn to cook; philosophy does not answer everything.
