if you really want to get into Lacan, whatever you do don't read Lacan.

I suggest taking up a hobby instead.

Lacanians are the worst pretentious scum. That should be enough.

Read Freud tho. He's worth it. Guattari's interpretations are nice too.

Psychoanalysis is a joke, and Lacan is the jokiest. Go ahead and read it if you want bullshit vocab to throw around, though. But as I understand it, Lacan is starting to fall out of fashion in academia.

>> No.2486414

Lacan is very good in his original French, you're going to miss out a bit on his wit and puns if you settle for a translation. His work itself is also enlightening and he's excptionally well read. I suggest you familiarizing yourself with Freud, as stated above, is a VERY good idea.

You simply prove that dickishness is cyclical in nature. Maybe you should actually read some Lacan.

>> No.2486495

Read Jacques Alain Miller. Reading directly Lacan is a waste of time and effort.

>> No.2486523

from my experience the terrible caricature of freud most people have is actually much closer to what lacan was actually like
