Yeah, yeah. You don't mind chowing down on the inept prose and laughably wooden characters who all talk the same. I get it.

Still, white knighting a horrific plunker of a writer like Franzen on 4chan is... well, maybe when you've grown up a bit you'll be able to recognise true literary accomplishment, and won't confuse it for hack artists who spin their wheels for the easily impressed middle class.

OP hates instant publishing, subscription with no strings attached, convenience and brevity.

Twitter as a medium can be great, just like blogs and books can be. That a lot of it is filled with shit is obvious. The ratio of shit is even higher with Twitter since it's so easy to gain access to, but it is damned easy to filter out the noise. Twitter can be access to a daily stream of intelligent and interesting people providing you with insight, recommendations and entertainment. People who hate the medium in itself will probably be long winded assholes and typewriter fags.

Franzen, like any experienced, intelligent, and disciplined person, must be, to some extent, wary of how technology interacts with art. But he's not merely aware and critical of it, he outright hates it, and displays his fearfulness in a really off-putting way. It's not enough that he's perhaps wrong about technology and information sharing; he's also a dick about it.

Enter the Void was actually a great movie to see once. There were some incredible visuals and I especially love how the west loves to fetishize Asian cities at night for some reason. It's always just endless shots of nightlife and neon lights and bustling clubbing streets when you see shots of Tokyo or Seoul or Shanghai. East Asia in the daytime is a lot more boring, so it's a good stylistic choice I suppose!

>> No.2479402

>>2479401

Agree, I saw this at my local cinema, which is also the oldest in the UK, and the film has a fascinating aesthetic. It's also terribly acted, but that's hardly the point. I'd like someone to explain to me the thinking behind the internal cumshot scene at the end - half the audience laughed, the other had already left. I guess it's just an extension of the omniscience of the camera's gaze throughout the film, but it was pretty bizarre.
