I figured this was a question for you guys.
I'm in an acting class, and my group of three guys has to pick a serious scene to act out, since we already did a comedy.
It's supposed to be fairly modern (basically, no Shakespeare) but besides that anything goes.

Vladmir's monologue from act 2 of waiting for Godot

>Was I sleeping, while the others suffered? Am I sleeping now? Tomorrow, when I wake, or think I do, what shall I say of today? That with Estragon my friend, at this place, until the fall of night, I waited for Godot? That Pozzo passed, with his carrier, and that he spoke to us? Probably. But in all that what truth will there be? (Estragon, having struggled with his boots in vain, is dozing off again. Vladimir looks at him.) He'll know nothing. He'll tell me about the blows he received and I'll give him a carrot. (Pause.) Astride of a grave and a difficult birth. Down in the hole, lingeringly, the grave digger puts on the forceps. We have time to grow old. The air is full of our cries. (He listens.) But habit is a great deadener. (He looks again at Estragon.) At me too someone is looking, of me too someone is saying, He is sleeping, he knows nothing, let him sleep on. (Pause.) I can't go on! (Pause.) What have I said?

Damn, I misread the OP ... some Beckett could be good though

They'd need four to do it properly ...

Beckett sucks. He is to surrealism what south park is to satire.

Indeed, i completely missed the bit where he stated there were only 3 players.

Can you guys be more specific with acts or scenes?
I'm not familiar with most of these plays.

You and I, sir, have vastly differing opinions.

Neat.

It's hard to do that with Waiting for Godot (which seems to be the only thing recommended so far) because it's divided into two acts, but nothing more specific.

Death of a Salesman "You're a dime a dozen, pop, and so am I"

That was the most emotionally moving play I've ever seen. (Though, I'm not claiming to be a connosieur)

This.

Death of a Salesman is your best bet for finding a good, dramatic, three man scene.

People suggesting Waiting for Godot are unfamiliar with how funny it actually is. Waiting for Godot is closer akin to comedy than to drama.
