Brilliantly written tale and we had 3 fantastic movies from it.
Of course not everyone will like it , still its one of the best works of literature.

if you wrote a really vague plot summary the movies would sound like the books but they aren't the same.

no glorfindel. arwen plays too big a role. sam and frodo's relationship dynamic different in movies. lots of things. movies were great but they tell a slightly different story with the same characters and main plot line. the ending to the books was way cooler.

I found the descriptive language great for immersion. I've never felt as much a part of a fantasy world as when I read LotR.

umm, it's bad in spots but never that bad. he's got a paragraph here and there loaded with descriptions but nothing that even takes up a half a page. have you even read the books?
