lol'd at the picture.

it's a great book, in all seriousness. required reading in this day and age, really. debord can be unnecessarily fuzzy at times and there are sentences that just sound like he was trying too hard, but overall it isn't hard to parse. i hear his "comments on the society of the spectacle" is pretty good, too.

It's worth a read but I prefer Vaneigem...interestingly you can preview these works at nothingness.org

after I removed the rubber band and sat down for a long perusal of the work in the picture I was met with much resistance by the very nature of the material itself. It was dense and did not yield to my attentions. I considered approaching the work from a different angle after I enjoyed a brief repast and stroll. To no avail was I to make any progress into the core of the work. Undaunted, I sought out other references that may have assisted me. I stared at the walls around me. Their secrets seemed even more inaccessible, to say the least. In my frustration I bitterly cast the work aside. It hit my pet dog and the dog died.

I bought the book and put it on my bookshelf. Now everyone outwardly sees me as a better person, but secretly continue to resent me.

sure, if you already have a solid comprehension in marxism.

What? This book constantly holds your hand in comparison to most other Marxist drivel.
I also love the shots Debord took at Stirner.

I agree. I liked parts of it, but i think i would have gotten alot more out of it if i was more familiar with the theory he brings up.
Sure i can just take what he says, but i would rather have first hand knowledge of them.
But on a big picture level, what he is saying definitely valid in todays culture.

thats an illusion very characteristic of french writers. their writing seems easy and accessible but it is full of references that you will notice only if you already know them. and these are really important to get the main idea

>> No.2447449

"the celebrity" section is hilarious. If only bitches would read this book.
