Kane and Abel - Jeffrey Archer
Vanity Fair - William Makepeace Thackeray
3 other really cheap books

Oh God. I actually want to read KAA a lot, and would pay full price for it (rather than £1.50, which is how much they're selling it for), but the others look...eh. They're all £2 though. Vanity Fair looks alright, but then I'll have to pick 3 garbage books from the Wordsworth Classics range. Which should I get? I thought I might try reading Jack London, i.e. White Fang.

Never heard of those books.

Have you read The Picture Of Dorain Gray?

It's in the range, but yeah, I've read it. Got it in Penguin Classics, with a black spine. Shame. The Wordsworth Classics range has so little stuff in it that I'm interested in. God, I wish I could get some 1950 onwards books in a huge range of £2 books, that would be fucking awesome. Won't happen though.

What about the Dubliners? It's one of my favorite short story collections.

Already got it. Paid £8 for it, lolol.

It's a shame, the public domain is so much smaller than it used to be (they say about half of all books were in the public domain at one time... Now it's like 3%.

>3%

source? that seems incredibly unlikely.

I got it from a Librivox/Project Gutenberg rant a few years back, don't know if it's accurate, but it actually seems high to me if it is inaccurate, since copyright length has been so extended in the past 50 years.

Did some quick research and I'm definitely wrong on this. As the accompanying graph shows. It is an estimate based one one European archive but still I think the estimate would have to be closer to 10%.

Some labelling would be nice ...

>> No.2440455

Yeah, I didn't make the graph, (it was part of a larger pdf, that I assumed 4chan wouldn't let me post) the red is the estimate of works in the Public domain, the black, those still under copyright.

Who's the girl on that picture, OP? She is beauty incarnated, indeed a goddess! I have now seen perfection and can die a happy man.
