"The Search for Modern China" is a sourcebook, so it has lots of important documents, but it's not a full timeline. I'd recommend it though, it's great for getting an insider perspective on the rise and fall of Chinese Communism.

No. Read it. Zinn presents the history of the US from the perspective of the oppressed rather than the oppressors. If you grew up in the US, you were inundated with a view of history slanted in favor of the genocidal slave masters. It will do you good to read Zinn.

For the Arab Muslim world, try Albert Hourani's "A History of the Arab Peoples".

To learn why there's no such thing as an impartial history, read "Orientalism".

The best part about this is that People's History of The US was written in 1980. 32 years ago.

He must have meant 150 years ago, which makes a lot more sense since that's roughly the heyday of Marx.
