It's like LotR: Two Towers, but all over.

is this worth putting any effort into? advice? i cant deal with such an overwhelming amount of references :(

>> No.2389485

>>2389437
a lot of the fun is in the references. otherwise its just a mediocre thriller with philosophy you won't get it you aren't getting the references. i tried reading it in high school and found it pretty confusing, came back years later after reading a great deal more and enjoyed it immensely.

Honestly I get bored of History books quicker than novels.

Although I just read this piece of shit today and I must say I am unhappy.

>> No.2389502

All pop sci nonfiction. I always download thinking this seems pretty neat. it will be interesting to learn something I wouldn't have otherwise realised. then a couple pages in I say 'fuck it, i'll read the wikipedia entry'

It's funny because Two Towers is the shittiest one by far.

>> No.2389513

Fucking Moby Dick. Only book I've ever wanted to finish and still can't.

the brother karamozov
>be me
>have two brothers
>be really close with one
>think this book will be relevant to my interests
>starts off good
>then religion preachy boringness
>oh god no
>accidentally read the stranger, of mice and men, animal farm instead

now im reading atlas shrugged
and loving it so far

>> No.2389578

couldn't do it, but this was maybe 5 years ago and I've read much worse since then so I figure maybe soon

This, goddamn. I stopped 300 pages in, will probably never finish. Name of the Rose was such a good read but FP doesn't seem to go anywhere with all its haphazard chapters.

Yes I will.

I saw OP's post and thought it was about finishing writing your own novel. Now THAT'S a sad face.

That's how I read it too. And thought, 'but anon, I write plays, why would I write a novel?'
Then I came to the conclusion: I will never finish that play.
