This is, frankly, a stunning contribution to the genre, and I am not a man to use the word "stunning" lightly. One is captivated from the first line, drawn into the sadness of the tale by the very title. But this is no mere re-hash of the tired old themes of the sad story, no love you 5ever for this Anon. With the seemingly simple introduction of the box of cholceleets, the author has raised the bar, changed the game. Now, the traditional gift of love, of sharing, of the occasional sneakily stolen caramel cup while she isn't looking, now all this is subverted. Like the archetypal womyn-figure, Snow White, she is stricken by this gift of food. she consumes the patriarchy and pays the price. However, in this tale, there is no saviour in the form of a Prince, since the Prince is the giver of the gift. In the early 21st century, where love can kill and even a kiss may be deadly, there is no retribution for this modern Snow White. Nop (is ded).
