just finished impeachment of man. it's the most convincing emotional argument for veganism that i've ever heard but i'm too dead inside to care. was hoping for more antisemitism after reading some post here ages ago.

I read the Dharma Bums by Kerouac because of this guy >>23656174. Comfy when it was't irritating. Really got me when not-Jack kept whining that his buddy's schizo wife wouldn't have leapt out the fucking building if she had understood the Dharma. Really loved it when not-Jack performed a miracle by realizing his mother was allergic to some flowers.

It soothes me to know that the friend he wrote half the book about also thought Jack was up his own ass.

The sign is a subtle joke. The shop is called "Sneed's Feed & Seed", where "feed" and "seed" both end in the sound "-eed", thus rhyming with the name of the owner, Sneed. The sign says that the shop was "Formerly Chuck's", implying that the two words beginning with "F" and "S" would have ended with "-uck", rhyming with "Chuck". So, when Chuck owned the shop, it would have been called "Chuck's Feeduck and Seeduck". The joke is that the previous owner of the store is called Chuck so if you replace "Sneed" with "Chuck" you get "Chuck's Feed & Seed".

Which translation are you reading? I read the P&V one and I liked it at the time but after realizing I don't really like P&V I'm wondering if I'd enjoy it more in a different translation.

Burgin/O’Connor, pic related is the edition. only complaint is that its annotated, but none of the annotations are numbered or even marked at all in the text, so you just have to flip back to the end notes on a whim once and a while to see whats there

Not reading anything at the moment (binging a tranime) but I bought a bunch of shit recently that I'm gonna read once I finish it. I'm gonna burn through:
>The Old Man and the Sea.
>Animal Farm.
>The Stranger.
>Notes From the Underground.
>Maybe Heart of Darkness.
In like, two weeks, probably.

Just finished Royal Flash and I absolutely loved it from start to finish, the plot, the historical bits, the fact that it's very lovingly set in Germany and Denmark, and, of course Harry Flashman's rakehell antics are the cherry on top of it all.

Have more recently started The Trial and I'm definitely liking it so far. Only about two chapters in and I'll be able to give a better picture of my thoughts when I've read more of it.
