So, /lit/, I'm kinda new to reading real books. Only books i've ever read are the Game of Thrones series.

My question is: What are the /lit/ essentials?

Pick up a book you like.
Read it.
If you follow /lit/'s suggestions you will end up reading Ulysses and Infinite Jest in no time.

Sticky is there for a reason...

the /lit/ essentials aren't necessarily the best starting place for new readers. It might sound boring in theory (although I promise the books themselves aren't boring), but your best option is to start with the high school classics (gatsby, catcher in the rye, lord of the flies, 1984, frankenstein, of mice and men, etc.), and work your way upwards.

This is the list we give to all newcomers OP:

Tao Lin - Richard Yates
James Joyce - Finnegan's Wake
Fotie Photenhauer - Natural Harvest
Zachary German - Eat When You Feel Sad
Shawn Wunjo - Cunts for Christ
