this. it's crazy I remember NPR or equivalent doing an interview and apparently there was a lot cut out about how it was a satire on women joining the workplace and being upset they could not get the men with power and families already working who had stay at home wives. it was like an early 50 shades of grey for professional women who wanted to get dicked down but also wanted to be strong independent women who didn't need no man.

She does take shots at women, specifically Nancy Reagan and Offred is largely passive and just lets shit happen to her. At least in the book I was forced to read in school.
