I read the first novel on a lark long before I knew anything about Gene Wolfe, and loved it. It inspired a DnD campaign I ran afterward.

Years later I learned this guy was better known for other works, most prominently "Book of the New Sun", of which I've read the first novel of, and likewise loved. It took a while for me to really get into it, but after the first 80 or so pages I finished the rest in record time. Something about his writing really engages me and keeps me turning pages.

To this day he's one of my favorite authors even though I've yet to continue BOTNS.
