Is there any other classic literature where the protagonist is a macho badass?

>macho badass
Junger wouldn't appreciate this title, the baggage that "macho" and "badass" carries stains what he actually was. Junger is closer to something from Homeric myth than some retard action film star.
Junger loved literature, he loved culture, he loved philosophy, he loved studying beetles, etc. He would be called a fag on that alone by a lot of people.

Those 'stains' are the associations your 21st century pop-culture junk brain have made. Junger would have been fine with 'badass' and 'macho' because he didnt grow up watching arnold schwarznegger movies and being taught to associate masculinity, stolidity, and violence with low-brow meatheads.

Yes, and that's what OP is using them as. He's saying those words with relation to that shit. Junger still wouldn't have cared for them, they're nothing labels.

I liked everything about that book except the protagonist. Oh he's completely disillusioned with the war and ideology and thinks the Spanish are retarded children who will never get anything right yet is 100% committed to a suicide mission? Fuck off. Pablo or whatever his name was was way more interesting.
