>Any suggestions for reading/literature clubs in New York City?

I've lived in Manhattan for a few years now and other than "The Book Club" in the east village, I haven't found a great literary scene in the city. My interests are modernist or post-modernist writers, but these aren't strict requirements that must be shared by the book club. I'm searching for people who are a bit, I guess, "cultish" in their love for books as I wish to no longer read around finance bros who sip wine and yap about the latest TikTok novel. If you have any suggestions, let me know!

uhhh I'm currently reading Swann's way by proust. I've recently finished The Power Broker, Invisible Cities by Calvino, Memoirs by Neruda, and Melmoth the Wanderer by Maturin.

Are you going to keep reading ISoLT or are you going to stop after Swann's Way?

bruh I know that you shouldn't binge ISoLT but it's too good not to. My plan is to get as far into the novels as I can before the summer ends and save the rest for another era in my life.

Sorry, I wasn't really being serious. I mean, I do live in NYC but I'm a shut in and hardly ever leave my apartment. I'm sure there are book clubs for real literature, though, I believe in you! By the way, if you're ever at the Strand and see a lanky guy browsing the philosophy books downstairs, that's me.

I live in Astoria. I read on my roof while my white 70 year old graffiti artist neighbor tells me how much he hates south americans

honestly there's no better haven than an apartment in New York, so I understand. If you're ever in the strand and see a dude who looks like timothee chalamet browsing through the art catalog books upstairs, that's me.

Nice. I'm in last 100 pages of power broker right now. I plan to finish it tomorrow and check out the Caro exhibition at the historical society on Friday. maybe I'll see u there. We can go beat up on the lanky art and philosophy nerds at the Strand. l>>23386872
