Plays. Plays are the most obvious correlate and shouldn't be neglected by /lit/izens -- both watched on film and attended in person. The centre of the canon, in Bloom's view and others, is a dramatist. The agonistic foundation of the canon is built on the contests of the Athenian dramatists for the Festivals of Dionysus. It may be worth going to poetry readings despite how gay the modern ones are too, acknowledging that the foundation of literature was initially in oral poetry.
