What's your anons opinion on the best hardcover version of lord of the rings trilogy? I don't care for the hobbit, but wouldnt mind it being included. I don't want a single giant volume. I want the 3 seperate books. Some guy on youtube says the (pic related) nice looking illustrated version's dust jacket is extremely fragile and the black ink drawings inside were trash compared to other versions because of the little constast and saturation that they have. Anything under 200 is what im looking for price wise.

by the way I'm selling this set right now probably.

there is no finer set out there (that I've seen). Even though it's not a 1/1/1, it's a 1957 and very collectible. Absolutely perfect. (almost all 1st editions are in terrible condition or restored)

Those editions are surprisingly high quality despite being advertised as if they were the cheapest available
The Folio Society editions are good but the more expensive ones are kind of unreadably large

My aunt has the Houghton Mifflin 2nd Edition in really nice condition. Although I feel most people ask way too much for it, if you can find a nice set in good condition it would be well worth dropping $200-300 on

Theyre 150 on Amazon as im typing. I saw them a few days for 140 but it wasnt prime ( some "Xpress" seller)
Ive seen videos showing great colors but ive seen other reviews where theyre really dull, maybe early prints
