I don't like your exclamation points. We try to be arty and meta here, most of the time it's a gigantic failure, every five-hundred and eighty-fifth attempt is transcendent.

It's like if you were allowed to talk in a library, and everyone who walked in had no idea what they wanted to look for beforehand. There's a huge orson welles at the front desk with a stack of high school classics that he will suggest to you, and you can read them if you like and talk about it with the other people who have read the same, or you can just proceed upstairs and discuss lit you're actually interested in with the other people who discuss the lit they're actually interested in, whether it's highbrow or lowbrow. Also our library has elevators, and if you go in there you can find James Joyce fucking farts out of Ayn Rand's arse.

the only good literature is 19th century russian philosophy

everything else (but especially game of thrones and ayn rand) is pleb

Everyone who responds after this post should just an hero themself.
Having said that: you forgot to mention that many of the books have been vandalized by pimply misogynistic masturbators and those who have recently become fascinated by the subtle homo-eroticism of the Third Riech

The ones who do read like absolute trash. The ones who don't read just come for the trolling and the name-dropping. Then there are the usual feminism/cinema/music/philosophy threads that somehow are better than the other threads. And then there's Quentin, e-readers and the unnameable.

It's shit.

It's like living in a student housing and your floor is made up of neckbeards from reddit who are alternately talking about shitty sci-fi/fantasy/lovecraft. Then there's the freshmen who all move next to you, are always reading exactly the same shit and always ask YOU the same dumb fucking question about the same twenty books. Then there's the artsy assholes who hold writer's workshops in your room because your common room has an ashtray and won't accept criticism without putting up a tantrum. The people who actually like literature as an art form all gather up at a couch in the common room to chat over a few beers and a smoke and the former two groups always call out "PRETENTIOUS DOUCHES" or 'ELITISTS" when they pass by. And every couple of weeks the RA and his posse of assholes come by, crash your meeting and divert the conversation into mindless shit or about their relationship problems. You can't kick them out because the RA is their friend. One amongst them is an aesthetics phd and laughs at you and your friends for struggling through ulysess or for liking DFW. Whenever they're around you call them names and tell them to fuck off but somehow they think this is you liking them. And for some reason, no one ever goes to class.

All of this, except the people who claim to "like literature as an art form" really are pretentious douches.
