What are some fantasy novels that are the most similar to Tolkien in terms of prose and storytelling?

The Chronicles of Narnia
A Wizard of Earthsea
A Wrinkle in Time
Fionavar Tapestry
Frieren: Beyond Journey's End

>The Chronicles of Narnia
>A Wrinkle in Time
>Fionavar Tapestry
These aren't even pure fantasy; they're about people in our world who get sucked into a fantasy world.

If you like the Silmarillion you should try to read the Icelandic Sagas and the Legendary Sagas

yes but
>Lewis and L'Engle were heavily inspired by their Christian faith
>Guy Gavriel Kay edited Silmarillion and is a huge history autist
and on that basis I would recommend these authors to Tolkien fans, unless you think Tolkien means "haha spell go boom" in which case go read forgotten realms or dragonlance

Jack Vance's Lyonesse Trilogy
C.S. Lewis' The Chronicles of Narnia
C.J.Cherryh's Fortress series
Lloyd Alexander's The Chronicles of Prydain
Vance and Lewis are probably the most similar despite very much having their own voices. Of course, Terry Brooks' The Sword of Shannara was an outright Tolkien rip-off so in that sense it's probably the closest thing to exist.

Also if you like the Silmarillion, you ought to give Herodotus a genuine chance. The Sagas are fine too.
