There is no schedule. This chapter wasn’t late, as such a concept does not exist.

We all realize we are pretty much done with this arc. It’s been quite a long ride, with its fair share of bumps along the way, something quite a few have loved to point out repeatedly. This made me realize it’s time for me to clarify something once more, especially as we have quite a lot of “newer” Patrons, or at least people have forgotten.

So let me make it clear once more: I don’t give a fuck about your opinions of the story.

I write the Primal Hunter for myself, first and foremost. I write the story how I like it, because I genuinely enjoy it. I started writing it purely for myself, putting out nearly two hundred chapters before I even considered putting anything up online, as that thought had never struck me. So don’t come in here telling me what I enjoy writing or what I should write.

The Primal Hunter is my story, and I’m not going to change that to appease a bunch of Patreon comments.

Let me make it clear. I still want comments. You can give feedback if you know how to not phrase it like an asshole, and I am grateful to all those who take the time to point out errors and spelling mistakes. That’s all good and genuinely helpful. I even revel in those bitching about cliffhangers. It’s not that I don’t want people to give their opinions on the chapter, just that a lot of commenters don’t seem to have been raised right and act like entitled toddlers when “giving their opinion.”

What I especially don’t like are people who are just complaining to complain. “This chapter was boring,”“Author is prolonging arc for more Patreon money,” “Bad chapter."

These are not fucking helpful, and fuck off with that shit, or I’ll make you fuck off. You think I “drag things out for Patreon money” How the hell does that even work? Do you think the story will just end after this arc? There is so much to do I am more likely to die than run out of content to write.

Also, let me clarify, I don’t even need a Patreon. Turns out that having a book do well on Amazon can earn you a lot of dough, and from that alone, I make seven figures a year. My primary reason for keeping a Patreon is to force myself to stick to a writing schedule and because I genuinely enjoy interacting with others who like the story, and I find all the discussions interesting and love reading them. But a bunch of complaining assholes can’t help but make this interaction less than pleasant, turning the comment sections into shit recently.

In the wise words of Michael Jordan: Stop it. Get some help.

If you don’t enjoy the story, just leave. That’s allowed. If you still don’t know how to act, I’ll gladly make you leave. I don’t need or want you and your ten dollars a month don’t entitle you to be a raging asshole.

Peace out, and I hope you enjoyed the chapter. Unless you’re one of the complaining assholes. If you are, please go fuck yourself.

Ha ha, imagine being a self-published author making seven figures, millions, a year. So this is the power of having enough money not to care at all what your fans think, as with the major fantasy authors with unfinished series. This is a rather bold statement, but it doesn't seem to be hurting him at all.

As can be seen below, there are various others making a good bit as well from Patreon alone.

The chapters are done as they're done and will be released when they're done. In case you haven't noticed I've been more than a little busy the last few months. If you haven't noticed WAKE UP ALREADY. I attended FantasyCon, AnthroCon, did a very complicated ending to an erotic fan-fiction short story, released additional chapters in October beyond my regular workload, DID my regular workload (which consists of chapters of The Primal Hunter every month despite conventions and other difficulties (one of those difficulties being MOVING IN TO AN APARTMENT)). Misspent Youth - Peter F. Hamilton, The Commonwealth Saga #0 (2002) revised US edition

I believe that it would be much better not to go into this book blind, or read it before Pandora's Star. The former is because you'll most likely have the wrong expectations, especially if you believe that the science fiction will be the focus, because it isn't. This is a coming of age family psychodrama with a lot of sex. By comparison to the following two books, I was surprised to find that Hamilton had toned it down relative to this prior book. I advise against reading it before Pandora's Star because it isn't a suitable introduction to the series. Reading this first may even discourage you from reading further even they have very little in common, as this one takes place in England in 2040.

The content of this book may offend a wide spectrum of sensibilities. Some examples are: teenagers having sex, age gap sex, graphically described sex, infidelity, women as sex objects, misogynistic attitudes and behaviors, dysfunctional families, severe emotional damage, English separatist domestic terrorists who proudly boast to be worse than the IRA during The Troubles, and several characters who support the aforementioned. It's often so melodramatic about it though like in a soap opera that it was difficult for me to take any of it seriously. On a different note, piracy won and copyright laws were abolished in 2010. Now that's fantastical.

There are four viewpoint characters, three of whom are members of the Baker family. Tim, the 18 year old son, Jeff, the 77 year old father, Sue, the ~37 year old mother, and Annabelle, Tim's 17 year old girlfriend. None of them are likeable, which seems intentional, and most of the other characters aren't much better. It's a lot of people who are in bad situations, whether because of their bad choices or not, or are fortunate and believe that behaving badly is their right. All four viewpoint characters are mentioned by name in the following two books, as are at least four others, though there are possibly several more if you allow for speculation based on first names alone. It's interesting, but their origins don't matter in terms of the story. I appreciate how it demonstrates continuity though.

Tim is the primary viewpoint character, and the bulk of the story follows him, though it's his father Jeff, who undergoes the first rejuvenation treatment to become young again. The central question is, how does that affect someone? When someone has a second coming of age, would they do anything differently from the first time? How does it affect the friendships of those who were your friends of a similar biological age, let alone becoming roughly the same apparent age as your son? What is allowable behavior and what isn't? Suffice to say, the title itself is a condemnation. Maybe this was intended to be a cautionary tale, but if it was, then that certainly didn't carry over to the next books.

>A first contact between alien species who share zero genetic lineage with each other would be infinitely worse.
Says you. As this anon >>23212190 pointed out, it's all speculation - on everyone's part.
Said alien species are by definition surprisingly alien, and neither you nor anyone else has any idea of how these aliens would react to First Contact. I don't remember who said something along the lines that all of us are attributing a whole lot of motivations and preconceived notions to beings that we know absolutely nothing of.
Also one other thing that doesn't get mentioned often is that even if you tweak the Drakes Equation to be favorable to creation of life, said life would on average appear 20000 light years apart. That's 20k light years between each and every civilizations - you'd be hard pressed to communicate, let alone kill each other.
So, yeah, while you could have alien horrors like Scramblers from Blindsight, you could also end up with hot, blue skinned chicks who just want you to live and prosper (and maybe put two in the pink and one in the stink).

Perhaps I should revise my question. What happened to the old adventure sci-fi/fantasy short stories that used to fill every short story site? Now all I can find are emotional (but somehow floundering) short stories that make me cringe because of how they execute their premise, or sci-fi/fantasy that’s basically a literary short story you’d find on /lit/ but it involves robots or wizards. Not many of them are fun to read.

To assume aliens would look anything like humans an extremely low IQ assumption. We share 40 to 50 percent of our genetic code with bananas. So then to assume aliens from thousands of light years away whom we share absolutely nothing with, would look anything like us is an utterly retarded assumption.

>with scientist lead by a women who is an expert for spiders

>but they work together absolutely professional

The MC in my fantasy series repeatedly rapes a woman. The scenes are very detailed and she's conflicted about it because she hates the MC but she also cums a lot from the rapes. The MC also kills a lot of people and tortures some people to death while he's raping them and these scenes are also very detailed.

He wrote an autobiography "This is Me, Jack Vance!" about it.
From what I recall rural but with some support from his grandfather after his father split then the great depression hit and he worked a lot of shit jobs and got tough, paid himself through college where he flirted with girls, went army where he narrowly missed being on Pearl Harbor, later went merchant marine and became a writer in his 40s.
I got the impression that he was "bohemian" mostly out of necessity for taking any job that came his way moreso than inclination.

Whenever I read a sci-fi/fantasy book, I NEED to be aware and realize through the writings that the author is as enthusiastic and loving about his universe and characters as I hope he is. Otherwise, the whole thing falls apart. Never have I felt so bad and disappointed when reading this one series and halfway through I just realized the author just doesn't have all that much passion for it. I just gave up. I'm literally writing some notes down. Just putting down some ideas. I've never written a novel so I might try re-reading my princess of mars copy just to get some ideas.

I think instead of a planet I was thinking of a giant ass man made ring surrounding a sun but some war happened that destroyed everything and now it's like mars with city states and barbarians and other weird shit.. You can do all types of stuff. Like a tribe of all female clones that live underground and made a religion out of maintaining the engines that keeps everyone alive. With the ring being so massive, like the size of 500 earths or whatever, you can just keep coming up with new stuff for our hero to explore. And bang hot alien bitches like captain kirk.

I've actually read a lot of their trash and i'd say the Japanese basically ignore the existence of both countries outside of online netouyo comments about "Country K" being retarded and chinese tourists. It never really filters into their stories.
The Chinese treat the Koreans as a generic enemy that they will take over (historicals treat them as insidious infiltrators, moderns as a stepping-stone) and they either ignore the JPs because they don't want to deal with it, treat them as minor villain caricatures like "Majimoto wields a samurai sword and is evil and bad who will die and won't be mentioned anymore" or hardcore seethe about the entire country ad nauseam but still lust hard over japanese women and will mention the names of JAV pornstars they obsesss over.
The Koreans do seethe about both but are more likely to focus on seething over their own people. Usually over if they're nationalist or not and if they're on the side of the government or not, both kinds usually have a ton of weird "massacre X group of Koreans" hangups.

It's very highly regarded on Reddit and another sites. It won awards and was nominated for various others as seen in this link. If you didn't hear about it it's because you won't wete it was being talked about. Your opinion is definitely a very small minority here.

>No clue where you're getting that from
The people suffer under the centuries-long rule of the Moon Throne. The royal family—the despotic emperor and his monstrous sons, the Three Terrors—hold the countryside in their choking grip. They bleed the land and oppress the citizens with the frightful powers they inherited from the god locked under their palace.

But that god cannot be contained forever.

With the aid of Jun, a guard broken by his guilt-stricken past, and Keema, an outcast fighting for his future, the god escapes from her royal captivity and flees from her own children, the triplet Terrors who would drag her back to her unholy prison. And so it is that she embarks with her young companions on a five-day pilgrimage in search of freedom—and a way to end the Moon Throne forever. The journey ahead will be more dangerous than any of them could have imagined.

Both a sweeping adventure story and an intimate exploration of identity, legacy, and belonging, The Spear Cuts Through Water is an ambitious and profound saga that will transport and transform you—and is like nothing you’ve ever read before.

You gotta admit that it sounds pretty bland. Most likely it's neither ambitious nor profound and has some faggotry in it. I can't be bothered to check.

Why would I (or anyone else for that matter) care what those dregs of humanity over yonder at Reddit think about anything? Same with the awards in the current year. The novel must be pretty pozzed to even get nominated these days.

>>23219546
You were just giving off, you know, those vibes, so I assumed there was gonna be some hanky-panky in there somewhere.
And I totally understand your position - I too would deny authorship over such a risqué novel. Not to mention you are probably no Vladimir Nabokov.

kinda sad. Easy way to miss great books, plenty of 'em have generic descriptions meant to hit a broad audience.
This one is pretty gay though so you'd probably hate it.

Apparently you consider being pedo to be based rather than pozzed.

Still not as sad as being a part of the Reddit hivemind (or thinking that said hive mind has any worthwhile opinions on anything).
Look man, after trawling for actually good books for the past few months, if the book looks like shit, smells like shit and tastes like shit - it is absolute and total shit.
If you take a look at the synopsis and the whole thing gives off pozzed vibes, it probably is (and I was right by your own admission). It's simple pattern recognition, trained on myriad synopsis of novels such as this.
It's not that the author like to take it in the ass, it's not that the characters in the novel like to take it in the ass, it's not even that you like to take it in the ass - it's the fact that everything has to revolve around taking it in the ass. In the current political climate, the authors asshole is like a black hole, exerting tremendous gravitational forces on his writing (and probably every other aspect of his life) making it unreadable.
The reason no one mentions that novel is that it's just another turd in the septic tank that is modern fantasy, nearly identical to every other turd in that category.

>>23219686
Apparently you are under the illusion that anyone cares about your opinion (here or in real life). I am not in the habit of explaining myself to someone like you.
Now screencap this and go whine about it on twitter.
