It was meant to not make sense. iirc Rowling made the sport up because she was angry at her boyfriend at the time for watching too much football and quidditch is her attempt at making fun of sports and sports fans. You can argue that the rules of quidditch are still somewhat lore or world accurate, since wizards don't place too much emphasis on logic, because they are ofc time and space bending entities who can manipulate matter so nothing really matters to them ultimately.

The first hunger games book had me staying up late way past my bedtime reading. Refusing to blink, absolutely caught up in the book. The world just sucked me in.
No other series has really made me feel like that since. Only a few, but nothing that intense. Beowulf got close (the burton raffel translation). Also the hunger games books fell off hard. At least harry potter fans don’t really argue about the later books being shitty
