23155795 No.23155795 [Reply] [Original]

>Nader has been described as an "ascetic ... bordering on self-righteous".[119] Despite access to respectable financial assets, he famously lives in a modest apartment and spends $25,000 annually on personal bills, conducting most of his writing on a typewriter.[120][121] According to popular accounts of his personal life, he does not own a television, relies primarily on public transportation, and over a 25-year period, until 1983, exclusively wore one of a dozen pairs of shoes he had purchased at a clearance sale in 1959. His suits, which he reports he purchases at sales and outlet stores, have been the repeated subject of public scrutiny, being variously described as "wrinkled", "rumpled", and "styleless". A newspaper story once described Nader as a "conscientious objector to fashion".

Not in the US. Livable wage in most low-cost areas is around 30k. In large metros can vary from 45k to almost 100k.

Ralph Nader is, surprisingly, still very sharp. He is an excellent commentator on today's politics. Catch his radio program online, it's very good, lots of info and issues few others are discussing.

Nader is a wonderful man, a very good man.

Jeremy Corbyn, despite being a massive tool, lives fairly modestly. A woman who taught me in sixthform lived nextdoor to him and said he lives in an attached terrace house. When he's not working he's tending to his garden.

Nothing will change until you do. The externals of your environment are irrelevent if you don't change your habits, customs, and way of living. It's not like Nadar was some inspired genius or writer anyway. I do agree in the importance of removing distractions from your life, but removing them is just one part of the equation. I'd argue it's better to foster self-discipline first before getting rid of things you no longer want or use. Getting rid of your computer and smart phone will not automatically make you more disciplined, or a better thinker/writer. This is delusion.

By narrowing his sensorium, he misses timely cues, and fails to form ideas applicable to reality, instead starving his conscience, thereby creating the psychological equivalent of a rape baby born during the Holodomor.

As an ignorant child, I thought that Nader was pretty cool -- a third party candidate who was clearly outside of the establishment -- only to later realize how much more optimally he could've applied his time, effort & understanding against the roots of the problems he campaigned to solve.

The automotive enthusiast in me hates him, but the environmentalist in me tends to not to.

Nonetheless; I digress: let us return to how bad of an idea it is for you to go total ascetic mode... unless you've *already* percolated sufficiently in the ocean of everything enough to accurately model reality and the current meta before you pull the plug, and have a DEFINITE SCHEDULE which you absolutely MUST adhere to with unforgiving devotion.

Give yourself exactly one year plus one day plus one hour plus one minute plus one second before emerging from your chrysalis of solitude and plugging back into the hyperweb, and be sure to already have *two* entire books completely finished (with another heartbreaker magnum opus still simmering on the back burner as your paraculture in your creative process, like the extra tank full of microorganisms under a pro aquarium, that extra reservoir to share water with for ecosystemic vitality & fecundity, and allow that to ferment while self-publishing the first two online).

Now begin your monetization process... unless you (wisely) intend to fuck off forever into the wilderness on farmland claimed by blood & sweat (but no tears -- because we can never cry -- as we all should).
