>be me
>shit vision from surgery so I decide start listening to audiobooks
>binge about 40h of Verne, Doyle and even a book of the Dresden Files in a few days
>decide to listen to a few youtube clips of people talking about film and tv, pop culture etc after finishing another book
>it's complete brainrot
>impossible to enjoy gay zoomer social media shit anymore because it's so hollow compared to actual literature

I'm still a retard myself but holy shit dod this open my eyes to how fucked the future generation enslaved by social media actually is

Will your vision be good again? What happened?

retard thinks that random people have the same amount of insight as famous authors (and that the content they create has 1/1000th of the time put into it that even middling authors put into their work)

That sounds annoying but I hope you get better, OP.

>Zoomers bad because social media told me so
>t. millennial
I see no difference between millennials and zoomers and that's because there is none. Go buy a funkopop or a lumberjack fit.

>> No.23146100

>>23146080
And not only that, but the idea that "zoomers are so brainrotted bro! Zoomers are so dumb!" Is true because random people online can't compare to some of the most famous authors ever is fucking laughable.

Hilarious seeing /lit/eral retards bend over backwards just to be contrarians to OP

Contrarianism is all /lit/ is. You saw the now deleted Max Lawton thread? They were calling his taste shit lol

Now you know. I, for one, celebrate OP discovering there's more to media than goyslop. Hope your vision gets better.

>> No.23146190

How is my disagreeing with the post being a contrarian? It's simply fucking retarded to compare some of history's greatest authors to film reviews. They're not the same thing, nor are they trying to be. Find another reason to hate zoomers, there's plenty of non retarded ones.

Are you a zoomer?

>> No.23146207

I hardly see how that's relevant. As >>23146087 said, there's not a huge difference between millennials and zoomers.

were you warned prior to the surgery about the psychological damage that complications from Lasik cause

Although I agree with your take on social media I feel that shitting on how bad things are generally tends to accomplish nothing. Be the change you want to see, make good content and compete. Sure the zoomers won't prefer your shit but your audience are people like you, not them.

Alternatively, promote those creators which actually do put effort into their work. But I'd say that one has to not be too critical of the sources since I mean a lot of the time it's people doing this as a hobby in their spare time not getting payed.

millennials and zoomers are all obsessed with the same dumb shit. and they both revolve around buying junk. the only reason to hate one is because you hate yourself, with both generations also have in common.

I can't see well enough to read that brother but I wasn't really warned of any consequences that weren't surgery and recovery related. I wenf cuz glasses are not letting me work or do aports properly and my friend recommended it as he sees perfectly now

>> No.23146328

>>23146190
Yeah, it is retarded, that's why you should stop doing that. OP's point is that there's more substance to literature rather than just wasting time by listening to random shit on Youtube. Not a particularly groundbreaking point to make but if it makes him happy, good for him.
You're the one who suddenly starts simping for Youtubers just because you're either a contrarian or a butthurt zoomer

I got to skim it now. Seems like it's heavily related to just unsuccessful recovery or procedure, which can happen with literally anything. There's a ton of shit you have to do post-procedure for several months, I can imagine some people not taking that seriously is a part of the problem.
I will say, I'm almost 2 weeks into recovery and it's frustrating at parts when my vision goes blurry for no reason for a bit and I can see how people would feel helpless and depressed if that's just how their end results looked like. It feels like you're crosseyed at points or you're wearing glasses that are a few points short of the prescription you should be wearing but then there's times where I catch a glimpse at the TV on the other side of the room and everything is crystal clear

it -can- happen for literally anything, but Lasik tends to be pushed as a miracle surgery and is also a commercial procedure, like a product, which makes it worse than a necessary medical procedure gone wrong imo. A necessary heart transplant that has debilitating side effects vs a procedure your optometrist pushed on you that he's going to make bank off of, which you could have lived your entire life without.

Lasik is like that grey area between a cosmetic surgery and a necessary one. Imo this means it should be extremely clear with its risks, which it often isnt

>> No.23146417

>>23146384
I agree with that. I don't think I heard any downsides mentioned until later, where they said I might need reading glasses in 10 years or something. The friends and family who recommended this to me are around my age as well, so none of them have had any long term effects show yet.
I wouldn't compare it to cosmetic surgery though. An ugly nose won't keep you from doing your job but having your glasses fog up every time you enter a room or just having glasses on while playing football or jogging certainly will make your experience worse
