I've given up reading this year to devote myself to learning Chinese. I powered through the Michel Thomas course and I'm buzzing with so much energy, i feel like i can't fail. hoping to get to B2 level by this autumn.
It's a shame as I've got over 40 books in my to-read stack. Might start balancing out my time once I've settled on a good learning routine.

I am at work on the fourth book of my metaphysical Catholic sci-fi story. I have been writing the story since 2020, when being holed up at home during the pandemic with nothing to do finally prompted me to start writing it. I had had the idea for the story way back in undergrad when I was 18, when my Great Books education filled my head with so much inspiration in the form of philosophy, theology, poetry, history, and literature. I attempted to write it back then but realized I was not talented enough yet to tell the story, so I held off, and waited, and in 2020 when I turned 33, I finally felt it was time.

Since 2020 I have written three full-length books and one short story as part of the story as a whole. I am, as mentioned, at work on the fourth book as we speak. After this I will start a shorter segment of the story that is a mixture of prose and poetry; the story is told partly in prose and partly in verse, with me varying the medium based on how I feel it would be appropriate for each particular scene or episode in the larger tale.

I have no idea how many books, short stories, and poems it will take to finish the story. I know the ending, I'm just not sure how long it will take to get there. I'll probably be working on this story for at least another decade.

I've actually even recently gotten a start-up publisher interested in the first book. Wish me luck, /lit/, maybe I'll be the great Millennial genius writer everybody's been looking for.

Am working on a guide to manufacturing IEDs.

It is one section of a larger book on guerrilla warfare for the 21st century.

The main explosive material is a CIA recipe, the one used by Middle East insurgents in Afghanistan.

I was stuck on detonators for a while, but I've finished that part. The whole device has to be super cheap/undetectable.

Right now working on the section for trigger mechanisms. Pressure plates, remote detonators, and impact triggers for small drones.

The book is written in the tradition of previous authors on the subject, such as Mao, Che, James Crabtree, John West, no godless communism.

One of the worst Popes of all time, arguably the worst we've gotten since bad old days of the Medicis and the Renaissance. I liked Laudato Si but that's just about it, and his handling of multiple administrative crises has been abominable.

But, actually, one of the reasons I'm writing this story is to show that the world goes on, the future moves forward, and things that are eternal endure. One of the vibes I'm trying to put into the story is that humans are humans, and humans don't really change. And since I actually do have faith that Christ is risen and the Church is eternal, I have the faith to endure Francis' shenanigans. He won't be Pope forever, and I'm confident we'll get a good one again in my lifetime.

I'm working on a book tracking software that gets info from goodreads and stores your progress locally. I will probably integrate some kind of progress view that has charts for your specific interests so you can see your progress in the chart itself. Also it's just nice to see all the pages you've read this year/month/week and so on to make reading feel a little bit more rewarding (not that I really need that)
