Do you have an escapist fantasy, anons?

I've always liked to imagine myself as an Internal Affairs officer who hunts down corrupt cops, like Forest Whitaker in The Shield.

Yes - I make up my own restaurants. I have an imaginary airline with its own route map. I made maps of imaginary worlds as a kid. I can’t help from listening to other people’s conversations. I’ve imagined myself as all sorts of occupations. I even prefer fapping to sex. I think I’m probably schizoid.

Yeah, I have a couple of thousand years of history and legends for my own world. I think I started it when I was about 10. I'm 30 now. Sometimes I just grab a beer in a tavern or work on a pair of clogs or whatever

I seek no escape from the present reality, denying myself of drinking, smoking, pornography, or anything of that nature. It is a life of labor and constant soberness, upheld by prayer and contemplation.

In this I am inspired by the example of the Christian monks, whose lives are toil and prayer in harmony with creation. They prosper by labor and discipline, yet reject materialism by voluntary poverty.

With God, one may accomplish all things. Yet these things must be in accordance with His will. There is no higher work, and it is gladly not a thing of fantasy, to carry out His will on Earth. There is nothing more transcendental, it is beyond the wildest imaginations of men, beyond the experiences wrought from our hands or this natural world. It is not something we can receive or be granted from the hands of mankind, this world, nor the richest and most powerful in this world. There are things we can only receive from God.

Just as men may descend into the depths of depravity, so too may we ascend into places of spiritual bliss by the discipline of our body and soul. In this is not an escape, but a mastery of reality and nature, as is our holy duty. We are given mastery over this natural world by the Creator, but first we must master ourselves to become conscious of, and deliver ourselves from our impurities.

In this stillness of the waters within us you will find that your days will not encourage you to escape, but very much the opposite. For in the peace which guards the heart in Lord Christ is a peace beyond words or understanding, it is a peace that will cause you to give thanks and supplication for the gift that is each day of our lives.

It's all mental images, I'm afraid. I did use it for GMing some GURPS with my mates though, but I didn't really produce anything tangible. They only had good things to say about the setting, but it's nothing special other than the fact that it's pretty developed after years of daydreaming. Most of the players even got to know the names of the major tribes by heart, I kinda enjoyed that.

I have a reservation at Stanley’s on a Friday night, table for two. What am I in for?

Stanley’s is basically a classic steak house. Established in the 1950s by a second generation Italian (named Franky).

Franky’s ideas were simple : big steaks with his secret seasoning (garlic, shallot, salt, butter). Along with the steaks were his rich sides - twice baked potato with three pieces of bacon, double fried steak fries, creamed spinach, house made caesar etc…

Over the years Stanley’s (now run by his grandson) has refused to adapt to the changing environment. They don’t do Uber eats or grub hub. The only reservation system is you can call between 2-4pm M-f and request a reservation (the dates and names are kept in a fat ledger book). Reservations were once impossible to get…now not so hard.

They reached their zenith in the 1980s with Wall Street types frequenting the place. There’s been essentially no menu changes. Commenting on the accelerating health craze Franky once said “if some broad is on a diet she should just eat half the meal. We got vegetarian options tho…you can always get a side of mashed potatoes and iceberg” The 1980s also saw a “grilled chicken” craze but Franky refused to adapt…still only serving steaks and some seafood (laden with garlic butter).

Covid along with the relentless negative google reviews almost killed them. To this day there is no “online presence”. In keeping with Franky’s spirit the grandson refuses to change. In a local interview he commented on the negative reviews “we just ain’t that kinda place.”

Some critics have pointed out the negative google reviews mentioning discrimination where an older waiter once refused to let two males sit by each other. The sometimes tone deaf owner commented “I got nothin against gays, but at Stanley’s partners means business partners”.

The dated feel of the dining room with lots of golds and maroon could use a touching up. But if you want to treat your woman (or business partner) to classic steak with homemade caesar salad (meat still sourced from 3 farms outside of Amarillo) then this is the place.

TRUE. Motherfucker you can eat what you want as long as you don’t eat too much. This is extremely simple.

Yes. It keeps changing but the first two things I want to do is build a house and learn everything I could not in this life. It mostly is a long hypertext document that spilled out from making a build for the village cyoa and I realized the two things I really wanted was human interaction and never having to stare at a screen again in my life
