Just a reminder that George is NEVER going to finish all the books, because he takes 5+ years between each one and he is certain to die of old age first.

Honestly though, The Sopranos wasn't good. I see nothing interesting about Italian-Americans and that's the only appeal of the show.

Six Feet I barely watched.

Six Feet is probably my favourite show. If you can watch the entire thing without crying you have no soul.

Are you implying that you - as well as everyone you consider to be "the rest of us" - never read fiction?

>> No.2310410

War and Peace is similar in it's having super developed characters and an epic scale with romances, giant battles, political discussion, and immersion culture, AND you come out knowing a fuck ton about Russian society circa 1812, the Napoleonic wars in Russia, and 1860's philosophical thought.

Alistair Reynolds's Revelation Space has the tons of interlocking characters, awesome ideas and cultures, epic scale, and lots of depth set in a sci-fi setting. It's hard sci-fi, written by an astronomy PhD with time debt and no above lightspeed travel so you have plot lines intersecting with time dilation and cryosleeps and all sorts of cool stuff. Love these books, it's like the RR Martin of sci-fi.
