the book Web of Debt explains it really well, basically our entire money system is created by privately owned instead of government owned.
Normally, like the countries we've invaded, the Government owns the banks and creates the money based on the Gold they have.
For us and the entire 1st world, our money is just numbers in a spreadsheet backed by debt, but it's so over printed that it's not even backed by debt anymore even tho officially it still is.

You, the banks, can print any amount of money you need which funds your pet projects like Google (shell company) or keep Netflix and Youtibe from going under (both companies lose millions a day).
