Was he schizophrenic? A lot of his stories could be considered from a paranoid schizophrenic's imagination

He looks just like my dad who coincidentally was a big fan of his. Miss you lots dad but why did you have to cheat on mom and give her an STD

His best works were attemps to artistically process a mystical experience he had, which might have been brought on by acid, or might have happened naturally. I don't think he was insane, his ideas make a lot of sense of you are a mysticism enjoyer yourself

He was for awhile but that was because of all the speed and his novels from that time are fairly ehh (the 7 novels in one year period). But speed induced schizo clears up fairly quickly when you stop doing the speed and the memories of that time are not even crazy even when you understand that you were completely nuts for awhile there. But none of his books really read like that or schizo and the most "schizo" of his works are very well worked out and rational ways to explore the ideas he wanted to explore without moving too far from the constraints of the genre that was his bread and butter.

don't care Ubik and a scanner darkly are great

He didn't have schizophrenia specifically but he did have some type of high functioning psychosis or mania
If he was actually clinically schizophrenic his novels would be incomprehensible

Definitely not neurotypical at the bare minimum with drug induced manias.

Great novels.
