My father used to read the Genesis creation narrative to me and we're not even religious or ever had any conversations on religion otherwise. I guess it does read a bit like a fairytale. My mother read me Pinocchio and supposedly I loved that, though I don't remember. I never lied to my parents even in my teenage years, so there's that.

I taught myself how to read with Nintendo instruction booklets and technical manuals. I turned out awful, but I have a PhD and make a lot of money so my advice is to not fuck with it and just leave machinery around with a manual within reach for tiny arms.
