Were you ever pushed by your family into being a priest/pastor due to your interest in books?

No, just college, which was it's own mistake.

My family was atheistic.
I learned fundamental theology, Christian philosophy, Church history etc as an adult.
I tried getting baptised but the priests were autistic about going through RCIA for a year like I'm retarded and need to be taught that Mary wasn't a goddess or something lmao, and I have no time for that shit, so I didn't manage to get baptised.

No, but I've considered becoming a traveling preacher. Moving state to state, fleecing hicks out of what little money and impregnating their 15 year old daughters before moving on sounds pretty comfy. So either that, or becoming a carnival ride operator.

No. Who thinks like that? What is this, the middle ages? There are many other professions suitable for book lovers.

Yes, for prestige purposes

No, because they thought I might be gay

This is so sad, I hope you get baptized eventually.

Since you’re catholic, you may want to do it anyway, because you’ll need to learn some stuff to participate in the holy communion.

No but an upperclassmen was convinced I was a genius and desperately implored that I must read Plato(called Plado) at age 12 and study hard to make it to MIT so I can study under Chomsky because its my destiny.

I still have not read Plato or a studied anything or met Chomsky. Haha

Peculiar, my parish was much more lenient on this and would asses what you know in one to one meetings. My catechist said if I liked I could get confirmed earlier, but I declined because I find beauty in doing it during Easter Vigil. May God part a path for you to His church.

Yes. Ive always had a preoccupation with integrety, principle, and introspection. Though I don't think I am capable of giving spiritual advice or solace to others most of the time when I can only rarely find it in myself.

The requirement for baptism is expressed in Acts 8:37, a verse removed or discredited in bogus bibles used by religious systems that have practices which contradict Scripture. They hold their tradition in higher regard than God's Word, and they'll discard the majority text used by the church and body of Christ through the ages so they can hold their man-made traditions.

You took the time to learn theology yet didn’t understand that a priest may have a reason or three to slow down your baptism? Years come and go, anon, but your soul is forever.

My mom thought that I would become a priest, because I used to read everything I could get my hands on, including the Bible, and I was pretty fascinated by Saints and Biblical stories. I lost my faith in my teenage years, but the interest is still there.

Don't they literally baptize babies? IDK, if an adult honestly agrees with the nicene creed and basic tenets of christianity, why not just baptize them immediately?

Often in rural/poor regions your local priests the most educated guy ig. Makes sense to associate neediness with being a priest, esp if spergs are less likely to sin

One doesn't need to do anything to participate in holy communion, because one doesn't need to take holy communion.

I am delighted that the parents loved and supported me, and at the same time they never pushed for anything in particular. I drew a really good hand with those two. Dad is (very quietly, although he wouldn't use the word) an atheist while mom is a church-going lutheran. I never rocked the boat about this because they get on well with each other and it serves my interests that they get on well with each other. Dad and I used to attend socially mandatory functions with mom at church to keep up appearances when I was a kid but we have both steadfastly declined her polite invitations to go to church with her for about 15 years at least. Feels good to be in the truth.
