Currently reading Mikhail Bulgakov's A Young Doctor's Notebook and loving it. I was wondering if anyone has any good suggestions for other short historical writings, the kind of thing you can tear through in a few days to learn about the day-to-day life of some other era of history while plugging away at larger books. Any time period/topic is good. Thanks!

Read some short autobiographies of people who sound interesting to you. If you want a few recommendations:

>Andrew Carnegie
>Benjamin Franklin
>Nikola Tesla

Yeah lol. Some lose details (exact year, name of the hospital, etc) are changed for the sake of anonymity but yes he was a real doctor who did all those things, including getting addicted to Morphine. Fascinating guy.
