If it makes you feel better it's only on this list because it didn't make the top 100 list consistently

In any case I never rank religious works in this sort of thing. They all transcend other works, it isn't fair to rank them

I'm sad none of Pynchon's lesser works didn't make it. I would've thought Vineland or maybe even Inherent Vice would've had a chance.

Good. I like his books just fine but for some reason he and Wallace tended to develop a cult of fanboys who seemed more interested in the private lives of those authors as well as using those books as some kind of signifier for their own intelligence rather than engaging in literature.

Their popularity coincided with the influx of redditors during the election days which made them doubly insufferable. Our lists are now looking more a development of this board's pre 2015 tastes which is overall good.

This is a nice idea but I have one concern about it.
Did the books on the lower part of the list have all one vote each? If so, I'd imagine there were lots of books with one vote but that were left out.
If so, how was it decided which would make it?

1-71 received 3 votes or more. The main problem is that there were 112 books that got 2 votes, and OP apparently randomly selected 29 of them to make the list.

>> No.22957914

Thinking a bit more about this, while I like the idea a lot, and participated, there are issues with running a separate poll shortly after our annual one.

I think it probably makes sense to use the data from the normal, annual poll to create 2 lists: (1) our normal top 100, and (2) an alternative top 100 where books that have already been canonized by being included on 5 or more prior top 100s are excluded (or maybe even just a separate chart for 101-150 or something).

Something to think about when December rolls around at any rate.
