What is it about? A couple of children and a good hearthed hero named "NED" Ned for fuck sakes!

The first book is terrible, IMO. The series is worth reading for books 2 and 3. the 4th I could not even finish.

I laughed so hard at this picture. Way to miss the point. You are not supposed to feel good about reading that.

If anything, in those short sections Martin is actually at his finest - he makes you feel brutal, very real, emotions instead of the chewed through, effeminate, breeze of poetry. These moments make the heights seem greater than they are, and ground the whole piece.

This is coming from ^^^ who hated more than half of the books in the series.
