There's stuff of literary value but there's no Shakespeare, no James Joyce. They're very good followers-on but not trailblazers. At least one thing that I respect about them a lot is their literature actually improved after WWII unlike Europe and the US (in my personal opinion), at least compared to what was before. But now they bend the knee to globohomo like everyone else. A different strain of it perhaps but the effects are the same
