Yes. Eveyone else finds him weird and boring. Sorry OP, you're a loser.

I'm a recovering sad loser who's read Kafka. I'd say only sad losers laugh at Kafka's works, while the masses (i.e. Reddit and English 101 students) look at it with their mouths agape in some horror that they feel is expected of them to perceive due to convention.

Never understood the cult around this guy. Metamorphosis is a decent read with heavy themes but Nabokov listing it as number three on best books of the 20th century seems like some sort of perverse joke.

Those dudes are all generally lame but I appreciate some Dosto works and I love Krasznahorkai who is heavily influenced by him.

The “I’m going through a deep phase right now” is a pretty great rejoinder to anyone obsessed with any of those three.

Its only snobbish leftist pseuds do
See, Kafka is an abstriturfed plant that was supposed to redeem Jews in Europe
"look at this talented Jewish writer, buhu what a great loss the 9 million where"
This is the only reason Kafka was "discovered", nobody cared during his life. And as such its only goybity who read this shit.

Such sad losers like Thomas Mann, who read him, Rilke, who knew Kafka and requested his publishers send him everything Kafka came up with, and Musil, who knew Kafka and worked with him to get his works published. No, I'm thinking these guys knew literature, and you're the 'sad loser.'

All except Rilke make the OP‘s case

>Thomas Mann
>Anthony Heilbut's biography Thomas Mann: Eros and Literature (1997) uncovered the centrality of Mann's sexuality to his oeuvre. Gilbert Adair's work The Real Tadzio (2001) describes how, in the summer of 1911, Mann had stayed at the Grand Hôtel des Bains on the Venice Lido with his wife and brother, when he became enraptured by the angelic figure of Władysław (Władzio) Moes, a 10-year-old Polish boy (the real Tadzio). Mann's diary records his attraction to his own 13-year-old son, "Eissi" – Klaus Mann: "Klaus to whom recently I feel very drawn" (22 June). In the background conversations about man-to-man eroticism take place; a long letter is written to Carl Maria Weber on this topic, while the diary reveals: "In love with Klaus during these days" (5 June). "Eissi, who enchants me right now" (11 July). "Delight over Eissi, who in his bath is terribly handsome. Find it very natural that I am in love with my son ... Eissi lay reading in bed with his brown torso naked, which disconcerted me" (25 July). "I heard noise in the boys' room and surprised Eissi completely naked in front of Golo's bed acting foolish. Strong impression of his premasculine, gleaming body. Disquiet" (17 October 1920).
Well, it’s not an early life section but it will have to do
