i am not gonna drive more than 300km away of Torrevieja and you want me to go to fucking Mexico

why Torrevieja? is the favourite place for old ppl here... Try to go to the beaches of Almeria, Murcia is OK...

I really like Miguel Delibes for his depictions of rural and profound mid 60's Spanish society. I also enjoy Garcia Lorca for andalucian touch. Check 'generacion del 27' and 'generacion del 98' and pick any author.

Set in Southern Spain:
In terms of theater, I'd read "Fuenteovejuna" by Lope de Vega, the rural trilogy of Lorca ("Yerma", "Blood Wedding" and "The House of Bernarda Alba", they're short. Also "Doña Rosita the Spinster", set in Granada), "Don Juan Tenorio", and "Don Álvaro o la fuerza del sino".
Then, "The Family of Pascual Duarte", which is set in Extremadura (culturally and geographically the same as Andalusia) is a good realist novel, too.
Also, the posts above are right.
