Guys I'm pretty new to reading for pleasure. So far only have read shorter books e.g. The Tartar Steppe, Notes from the underground etc. Read quite a lot when I was younger.

Moving on to larger books like the brothers Karamazov, I feel my main issue is that I have a low stamina for focus.
Anyone else experienced this? Could it be chalked up to just not enjoying the book ?

Well, do you enjoy the book? If you do, you would know so.

Also, put your phone in a different room, don't have anything nearby that you go to when losing focus. Make sure your room and your book is well-lit.

Though it's short, The Tartar Steppe has to be one of the most boring books to start with. It's a masterpiece, but literally nothing happens in it, which is the whole point, but it still isn't a good starting book.

Additionally, you might need to remove other things to do in general. Block all websites you scroll through. Make it so the only fun thing you can do is read books, instead of other more stimulating dopamine boosters. I mean long-term, like for a couple weeks or so.
