What makes him a hack? Meta equals bad? I didn’t think he was ever too on the nose about it. I’ve reread american psycho twice now and I’m still seeing characters that I was supposed to recognize the first time around. glamourama was my favorite by far. What I like about meta is that it requires engagement from the reader to be effective. And I think Ellis engaged me. Why didn’t he engage you?
