Try to link it with its destination "native cote"

"barb'rous clime" might be linked to "native" as in pagan tradition, towards the "realms remote" of Christendom, Christmas as a re-wrought Yuletide

Lovecraft was such an amazing dude. Can't help but feel like you're getting to know him personally as you read more of his stories. Really the biggest tragedy of his life was not getting into Brown, he would have made it far in academia, plus he wouldn't have died so early and horribly.
