...start reading non-fiction and poetry. This is a BIG STEP for me, so I'm sure you're all excited. I've got a few heavyweight titles to begin with, wadaya think? Walden, The Diary of a Young Girl, and Leaves of Grass. I honestly may hate them, but I want to give them a try. Will I live to regret it?

Non-fiction is a step down, OP. It's for people who can only enjoy a story is the author claims it's all troo ah promises guys it rili hapn k?! but are too dumb to actually study the subject.

How am I supposed to live to regret it if no one posts in my threads?

Read history. As introduction, start with basic geology and geography, imo wikipedia would suffice. Learn the age and formation of earth, age and genesis of our species. Learn locations of countries, basic ethnicities of inhabitants. Then the fun can begin. Go with short synopses - university presses offer good positions - of each region (much better than going by periods) and try to cover the whole earth. Then you can move on to more detailed books on certain events/issues/people/periods. It can take you from few months to whole life. It might seem tedious but its achievable and grants immense self-confidence in one's ability to build a rational world view and understanding of contemporary development. Have fun.

It's okay, "bro".

when you gradutate from high school you might learn that great deal of non-fiction books is a commercial development of academia's scientific papers. Written by, you know, academia people.

No, actual professionals have no time to write populistic memoires about their findings.

>i am not your bro
That's why I said "bro". When you graduate from high school, you'll learn the difference.

How about making "get a job at last" your new year priority, Sunhawk?

Other than that, there's no great chasm between the fiction you've been reading up until now and the works you've mentioned in your original post. You'll see for yourself. Unless, of course, you're the type of reader for whom the story's being "true" makes a huge difference.

He couldn't get hired by Waterstones. He's fucked.

Also: Stick it to this Tory Government Sunhawk. Eploit them. The more unemployed, the more it looks like they failed. I respect you for going into poverty as a statement against bourgeois political policy.

Keep it real.
