Thread for biographies! I want to tank as many good ones as possible. To entertain and to teach myself. Picrelated's Lives is an obvious one, but what others? There's no shortage of figures to learn about. Generals, statesmen, academics, philosophers, scientists, adventurers, religious leaders and other absolute mad men.

List figures, even a little obscure/local, and their best biography(ies). Recently bought R M Johnston's biography of Napoleon. I would appreciate recommendations on more elaborate and precise biographies on Napoleon.

Some interesting figures
>Washington and other founding fathers
>Roman dictators and emperors
>Stalin
>Lenin
>Kepler
>Berkeley
>Schoppy
>Wagner
>Mozart
>the great Khan
>Charles XII of Sweden
And many more, too many to list.

Yes. Both he and Josephine fucked other people and did right from the start of their marriage.

More interesting. Why her, an aristocrat?
What about the ideals of the revolution?

BUONAPARTE

Holy vases are the poets,
Where life's wine, the Spirit
Of Heroes, are preserved;

But the spirit of this youngman,
So quick, how could it not break,
If tried to hold him, this Vase?

That the poet let him untouched like the Spirit of Nature;
With such stuff the master becomes a boy

He can in the poem not live nor stay,
Let him live and stay in the World.

That was only at the beginning of their marriage and after Napoleon found out she begged to not leave her and she stayed loyal since then. Keep in mind aristocracy cheating in France in the late 18th century was about ten times more common than the modern day military wives stereotype.
